How do I read my audiobooks in the Learning Ally Audiobook App?

Answer:

Currently, Learning Ally members can access their audiobooks by downloading our free Learning Ally Audiobooks application for PC/Mac/Chromebooks, Apple mobile devices and Android mobile devices.

Learning Ally audiobooks can also be played on a variety of authorized DAISY Devices – a type of player designed especially for audiobooks, including those manufactured by Humanware and PLEXTALK.

Where do I go to download Learning Ally Audiobooks for Windows or Mac computers?

Answer:

For Windows, Learning Ally Audiobooks is available for download at www.LearningAlly.org/App. For Mac computers, Learning Ally Audiobooks is available for download in the Mac App Store.

Where do I go to download Learning Ally Audiobooks for Chromebooks?

Answer:

Follow the steps below to install Learning Ally Audiobooks through the Chrome Web Store:

  1. Visit LearningAlly.org/app
  2. Select the option Available in the Chrome Web Store
  3. Select Add to Chrome
  4. Confirm download by selecting Add App
  5. Login in to the app with your Learning Ally credentials and start reading!

Are Learning Ally audiobooks compatible with Kindle E-readers or Fire tablets?

Answer:

No, Learning Ally audiobooks are not currently compatible with Kindle E-readers or Fire tablets. Please view our system requirements for more information on device compatibility.

How can I reset my child’s or student’s username or password?

Answer: Parent resetting a child’s username or password:

Log into www.LearningAlly.org with your parent log in information
Click Family Bookshelf
Click Edit Info/Change Password
Type the new username
Type the new password
Click Save

Teacher resetting a student’s username or password

Reset a password

Log in to www.LearningAlly.org
Click Manage Students
Click the student’s name
Click Reset Password

Reset a username

Log in to www.LearningAlly.org

Click Edit
Type the new username in the Learning Ally Username field
Click Save Changes

Why can’t I hear my audiobook?

Answer:

Please verify that your computer speakers are turned on and the volume is turned up. Then, make sure that the volume is not turned down in Learning Ally Audiobooks. There is volume control in the app when you have an audiobook open. If these items have been confirmed, and you still do not hear the audiobook, please follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Internet Explorer browser
  2. Click Tools
  3. Click Internet Options
  4. Click on the Advanced tab
  5. Find Multimedia
  6. Click Play sounds in webpages
  7. Click Apply
  8. Click OK
  9. Restart App

You should now hear your audiobook!

How can I login to Learning Ally if I forgot my username or password?

Answer:

To retrieve your account username:

  • Visit Forgot Username
  • Provide your email associated with the account
  • An email will be sent to you with your username

To reset your account password:

  • Visit Forgot Password
  • Provide your username
  • Provide the email associated with the account
  • An email will be sent to you with a link to reset your password

If you are still unable to retrieve this information please call Customer Care at 1-800-221-4792 to have your password reset.

Am I able to read offline?

Answer:

Reading without internet access is simple. Just download any books from the bookshelf before going offline. Remember to stay logged into your account to make sure you have access to the books at all times. To make sure that this works, test your book offline before leaving any available internet connection.

With which computers is Learning Ally Audiobooks compatible?

Answer:

The Learning Ally Audiobooks app is compatible with the following operating systems, Windows 10 and higher with 64-bit processor, Mac OS X 10.10 and higher 64-bit processor, Chrome OS 43 and higher. Please view our system requirements for more information on device compatibility.

How do I add new books to download in the Learning Ally app for iOS devices?

  1. Launch App
  2. Click Add Books
  3. Browse for books
  4. Add books to bookshelf
  5. Reopen the app on your device
  6. Select the Profile icon in the top right corner
  7. Select Update my books
  8. This will update all the changes you made to your bookshelf online.

How do I add new books to download in Learning Ally Link?

Answer: Please follow the steps below to add new books to download:

    • Launch Link
    • Click Add Books
    • Browse for books
    • Add books to bookshelf
    • Go back to Link
    • Click the refresh arrows

Your booklist should now be populated with your new books

How do I delete downloaded audiobooks?

Answer:

To delete downloaded books from the Learning Ally Audiobooks app:

  1. Log into the app on your device
  2. Select the Profile icon in the top right corner
  3. Select Manage my books
  4. Select the red X on the book and confirm
  5. This will remove books installed on your device. Be sure to select Done at the top when you have finished deleting your book
  6. Select the circle on the book cover to re-download

Please note:  If the percentage that the book has downloaded appears inside the circle on the cover then the download has been paused. Click on the percentage, if a pause symbol appears then the download has resumed.

How do I authorize my DAISY device to play Learning Ally audiobooks?

Answer:

Vist this Authorize DAISY PLAYER (UAK) User Authorization Key page and select your device from the drop down menu. Input your device’s serial number to generate the UAK.

How can I reset my child’s or student’s username or password?

Answer:

Retrieve your child’s username & password:

  1. Log into LearningAlly.org with your parent login information
  2. On your Dashboard, to the right of your child’s bookshelf please view the section Manage Child
  3. Select Print Child Login
  4. Your child’s username and password will display

Reset your child’s password:

  1. On your Dashboard, to the right of your child’s bookshelf information there is a section that says Manage Child.
  2. Select Reset Child Password
  3. In the password fields, enter the new password and select Submit

Find your Student’s Learning Ally Username & Password:

  1. Log in to LearningAlly.org Select Manage Students
  2. Select the student’s name
  3. Select Print Student Log-in

Reset your Student’s Learning Ally Password:

  1. Log in to LearningAlly.org with your educator credentials
  2. Select Manage Students
  3. Select the student’s name
  4. Select Reset Password

With which iOS devices is the Learning Ally app compatible?

Answer:

The Learning Ally App is compatible on all iOS 11.0 and higher devices except for Apple Watches.

How do I reset a password for an adult, educator, or parent online account?

Answer:

Resetting the password for an adult or parent membership:

      1. Log in to www.learningally.org with your username & password:
      2. Click your name in the top right corner
      3. Click My Account
      4. Click Change Password
      5. Type your Current Password
      6. Type your New Password
      7. Click Save Changes

Resetting the password for an educator online account:

    1. Log in to www.learningally.org with your username & password:
    2. Click your name in the top right corner
    3. Click Account Settings
    4. Click Edit Account
    5. Type your New Password

Are Learning Ally audiobooks compatible with Nook E-readers or tablets?

Answer:

Learning Ally audiobooks are not compatible with Nook E-readers. If your Nook tablet is an Android-based tablet that has access to the Google Play Store, you can try to use our Android application, Learning Ally Audiobooks, but we have not tested the app’s functionality with Nook tablets. Please view our system requirements for more information on device compatibility.

With which Android devices is the Learning Ally app compatible?

Are Learning Ally audiobooks compatible with Window tablets or phones?

Answer:

Is Learning Ally Audio compatible with VoiceOver for iOS?

How do I change my download destination in Learning Ally Audiobooks?

Answer:

Please follow the steps below to change your download destination in the app:

  1. Open the Learning Ally Audiobooks application.
  2. Select the Profile Icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select Settings and scroll down to Advanced.
  4. Under Select Storage Directory and select Browse.
  5. Navigate to the download destination of your choice
  6. Select Save Settings
  7. Downloads will now save to the external drive
  8. The next time you access the app, follow the steps above and the previously downloaded books will appear in the library.

Error Message: Book decryption error. LCP licence key is corrupted on book…

Answer:

Please follow the steps below to resolve the error:

  1. Click Manage Books
  2. Click the minus sign next to the book you wish to delete
  3. Confirm that you wish to delete the book
  4. Click Exit Manage Books
  5. Re-download the book.

How do I push Learning Ally Link for PC out to multiple computers in a school setting?

Answer:

In order to push Learning Ally Audiobooks out to multiple Windows computers please follow the Installing Learning Ally Audiobooks Application via Group Policy instructions below:

Environment used for this documentation:

  • Microsoft Active Directory 2012. One domain under One Forest
  • Windows 10 Clients

Create Group Policy

Create a group policy under the domain or ou where you want the deployment to run.

Open Group Policy Management Editor

  • Right Click on the domain or OU you want to create the policy (GPO)
  • Under Name, add a descriptive name .i.e:  LearningAllyapp
  • Click OK
  • Under Security Filtering add the Group/Users/Computers where the policy will be applied.

Software Installation

Group policy provides the option to install software by user or computer. For this deployment we will use the User Configuration Software Installation policy.

Setup Software Installation policy

  • Right Click on the newly created policy and select Edit
  • Under User Configuration>Policies>Software Settings select Software Installation
  • Right Click and select New>Package
  • Click Open after selecting the MSI.
  • Choose Advanced
  • Click OK
  • Select the Deployment Tab
  • Select Assigned under Deployment Type
  • Select Install this application at logon under Deployment Options
  • Click OK

How do I download my audiobooks to other DAISY devices?

Answer:

Please follow the steps below to download our audiobooks to your authorized DAISY

  1. Make sure your device is authorized to play Learning Ally audiobooks. If it is not authorized, visit Authorize a DAISY Player.
  2. Make sure to add books to your bookshelf at www.LearningAlly.org
  3. Go to My Bookshelf
  4. Click Continue under I’m ready to listen to my audiobooks
  5. Click Choose a Device under How to listen
  6. Select Advanced Users Download .Zip
  7. Click Continue
  8. Click Done
  9. Now, next to each title there will be a Download .zip link
  10. Click on that link to download the zip file of the book, which you can then copy these files into a folder on the device (SD card, flash drive, etc.) of your choice.

How do I download my audiobooks to a Humanware Stream?

Answer:

Please follow the steps below to download our audiobooks to your authorized Stream:

  1. Make sure your device is authorized to play Learning Ally audiobooks. If it is not authorized, visit Authorize a DAISY Player
  2. Make sure to add books to your bookshelf at www.LearningAlly.org
  3. Go to My Bookshelf from our website
  4. Click Continue under I’m ready to listen to my audiobooks
  5. Click Choose a Device under How to listen
  6. Select Advanced Users Download .Zip
  7. Click Continue
  8. Click Done
  9. Click on the Download .zip button next to the book you want to download
  10. Connect the SD card, flash drive or device USB directly to your computer.
  11. Once connected open the file folder for the device and create a new folder for the book you downloaded with the title of the book as the name of the folder.
    1. NOTE: You should put this new folder within the folder called $VRDTB if using a stream.
  1. Go to the zip file of the book you just downloaded and open. Example: DL-123
  2. Once open select All Files in the file list. Right click and select all
  3. Copy all the files to the clipboard. Right click and copy
  4. Open the book folder you created on the device
  5. Once the correct folder is selected paste the files from the clipboard into the empty folder. Right click and paste
  6. Once the book is pasted into the folder: safely remove the SD card, flash drive or device from your computer. If the device is connected directly turn it off before you unplug it from the computer.
  7. Turn your device on and select the book to play!

How do I download my audiobooks to a PLEXTALK Pocket?

Answer:

Please follow the steps below to download our audiobooks to your authorized Pocket:

  1. Make sure your device is authorized to play Learning Ally audiobooks.  If it is not authorized, visit Authorize a DAISY Player
  2. Make sure to add books to your bookshelf at www.LearningAlly.org
  3. Go to My Bookshelf from our website
  4. Click Continue under I’m ready to listen to my audiobooks
  5. Click Choose a Device under How to listen
  6. Select Advanced Users Download .Zip
  7. Click Continue
  8. Click Done
  9. Click on the Download .zip button next to the book you want to download
