Use these tips, agenda, and resources to host a Learning Ally Audiobook Solution® event.

Preparation Tips

  • Set up student Learning Ally accounts prior to the event.
  • Invite families using existing communication channels (e.g., enewsletters, social media, emails, backpack mail). 
  • Ask families to bring a fully charged device that children can use to read at home.
  • Here’s an invitation (English/Spanish) that you can download and customize.
  • Print copies of the Parent/Caregiver Kit (English/Spanish) and fill in the username and password for each student on page 2.
  • Identify student volunteers who would be willing to share their experience with Learning Ally during the event.
  • Book room and technology to show videos.

Sample Agenda

  • Welcome parents/caregivers (5 minutes)
  • Distribute the Parent/Caregiver Kit (English/Spanish) and share the value of Learning Ally by choosing the appropriate video of a teacher speaking to parents. (5 minutes)
  • Ask student volunteers to share their experience with Learning Ally or show a student video. (10 minutes)
  • Share the parent how-to video (English/Spanish). (5 minutes)
  • Allow time for parents and their child to pair together to download the Learning Ally reading app, add a book, and review the functionality. (10 minutes)
    • Encourage parents/caregivers to talk to their child about what they are reading in class or what they would like to read.
    • Be available to answer questions around the room.

  • Close by discussing the importance of building a habit of reading with Learning Ally (5 minutes)
